What are you looking for? An opportunity to put your talents to good use? An opportunity to join a brotherhood of men who are committed to showing the world the best face of the gay community? Then we want to hear from you.
This rich experience offers committed men solo, ensemble and large group choral/vocal experiences unlike any other in the midwest. The Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus encourages any and all to audition.
.Are you interested in auditioning for TCGMC? Sign up here to sing at a virtual audition on Zoom on January 7, 2021, starting at 7pm. Auditions will be held with our Artistic Director, Dr. Gerald Gurss.
Your audition with Dr. Gerald Gurss will take approximately 10 minutes. Please be prepared to sing a solo, without accompaniment, of no more than two minutes in length. Choose a song that you are comfortable singing – a simple song is fine (folk song, hymn, pop tune, or classical piece, etc.). In addition to your solo, the audition will check your vocal range, ability to carry an individual vocal part, tonal memory, and music reading skills.
There will be chorus members in the Zoom “waiting room” if you have questions about the chorus.
For more information, contact the Chorus Office at 612-339-7664.
Will you have in person rehearsals?
There may be optional in-personal rehearsals, with strict safety measures to minimize exposure to Covid-19. If we do this, they will take place in public parks wearing masks, and spread out 10 feet from other singers. These rehearsals will also be livestreamed for singers to practice from home, and recorded for practice once rehearsals have concluded.
How will we perform concerts?
Concerts will be released online throughout our season. Individual singers will record their parts at home, and the music will be stitched together into compelling video montages, like this. If restrictions permit, or a vaccine is readily available, we will consider singing live concerts again.
How much does membership in TCGMC cost?
Membership is $75 for each performance period, with three periods per year. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford this membership cost.
What is the time commitment?
Members commit to group practice 1.5 hours per week on Tuesday nights, and additional practice as needed to perfect the songs. The fall performance period will end in early December.
Interested in Volunteering with the Chorus?
We are always looking for volunteers to help us with office projects, selling product at our Chorus Store during concerts, and supporting fundraising activities. Volunteering is also a great way to get to know the Chorus before you decide to audition!
