Twin Cities Gay Men's Chorus

March 26-27, 2010:

LifeSongs: The Music of Living

Divas

Don’t miss the epic NakedMan performed with the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra and the world premiere of The Kushner Trilogy including I Want More Life featured at the Guthrie’s Kushner Celebration!

Some of the greatest inspirational music ever written will be performed as we celebrate life! Act I begins with NakedMan, one of the most powerful works from the GLBT choral movement, accompanied by the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra. NakedMan was commissioned by Artistic Director Dr. Stan Hill when he led the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus. Filled with soaring melodies and beautiful music, NakedMan speaks not just to gay men, but to the human condition. Culled from interviews with gay men – young, old, gay, and straight audiences will relate to the stories shared onstage – coming out, getting married, experiencing loss, and how we shed layers to reveal our true selves. Never Ever, the final movement of NakedMan, is regularly performed by high school and college choirs – often as a graduation piece. Act II will feature The Promise of Living from Aaron Copland’s The Tender Land, The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha, Here’s Where I Stand from the film Camp, and more!

Community Initiative: During our spring concert, we would like to encourage our audiences to participate in the 2nd Annual Great Cereal Drive to benefit Open Arms of Minnesota. Last year, the Chorus delivered 1,111 boxes of cereal to Open Arms.
