With special guests Ann Bancroft, renowned Polar explorer, educator, lecturer and philanthropist and members of “Prelude,” the Singer-Actor Performance Lab at MacPhail Center for Music.
This show for all ages deals with the difficult experience of growing up and feeling different. It Gets Amazing will feature composer Stephen Schwartz’s (Wicked, Godspell) new work Testimony. Composed for the GLBT choral movement and based on texts from the It Gets Better Project, Testimony weaves lyrics of despair and hope with beautiful music to create a profound piece of artistry that TCGMC is honored to share with you.
In Act II, TCGMC proudly revisits Tomie dePaola’s Oliver Button is a Sissy, the heartwarming story about a boy who likes to sing and dance rather than play sports. It will remind you how far we’ve come since the story originally premiered on our stage in 2000 and how far we have yet to go to embrace our differences and truly make it better.
