TCGMC is Celebrating Pride!

June is a month Minnesotans look forward to all year with the weather finally turning the corner to make the way for outdoor summer activities and trips, as well as cherished events, such as Pride celebrations. This June will look very different from season’s past for TCGMC. Due to the reality of COVID-19, there is still great uncertainty and danger when it comes to choral singing and large in-person gatherings. While we’re not in a position to share specifics of what the next season will look like right now, we promise you will see us and hear us in season 40 in the ways that are possible.
After yet another string of murders of black people in America, protests around the world have forced a long overdue conversation about the pervasiveness of systemic racism. TCGMC is dedicated to participating in that conversation by uplifting black voices in our community. Throughout Pride Month, we will be highlighting black voices from our TCGMC family as they provide insight on what it is like to live at the intersection of being black and queer in America. If you have not had the opportunity, please read TCGMC’s statement in response to the murder of George Floyd on our website.
We are committed to “doing” right now, and are thrilled to announce Walk With Me: A Virtual Pride Experience which will take place on Monday, June 29, 2020 at 6pm on the TCGMC YouTube channel. This virtual event will incorporate a new and special virtual choir performance you haven’t seen, some that you have, as well as some poignant messages from members of the chorus and leadership. We’re excited to offer an opportunity to share TCGMC virtually! As a sneak peak, here’s a new video from OutLoud! which contains an important message for all of us right now.
